Carr
Vale URC, Bolsover
Carr
Vale is a very small village, linked with but separate
from the small village of New Bolsover. The two lie together below
Bolsover Castle, both were mining villages, and neither settlement
has any other place of worship.
The chapel
building on Sherwood Street has been completely rebuilt
recently on the site of the previous vestry and "Institute".
This represented a major investment by District and Province and
provides an important flexible community resource for the village.
It required a tremendous act of faith and commitment of resources
to undertake the new build.
There is
a monthly "Free Coffee Morning" which
attracts a good crowd.
There is good
collaboration with the local Anglican and Methodist communities.
However, the small but devoted congregation have recently become
part of the Rose Hill Church as they currently lack the capacity
to undertake the functions of the church unaided.
